I have been a fan of Selena Kitt since I came across her “Baumgartners” series. I tend to feel a strong connection to erotic authors who can get me off with their words. It’s an odd feeling getting wrapped up in a good kinky story and realizing there is a person in the world who totally gets you sexually. I am quite sure I have read her entire catalog and have just made a mental note to ensure this is the case.
I read romance novels all through my teens and twenty’s and ventured into what I would call “classic erotica” (e.g.Story of O) every now and then, until I came across Erotic Romance – which was a huge relief. I was so sick of being hung out to dry with the “he entered her…she sighed” – next chapter!
Erotic Romance is still my favorite genre to read, however sometimes a girl just wants a little kink, something spicier, quicker, something you don’t need to invest too much into – something a little less dramatic!
Selena Kitt’s books provide that for me and I have also found this is the type of writing I enjoy creating myself (so far).
Every industry has veterans, pro’s, experienced people who happily share their knowledge – but I have to admit I found it difficult to find some with the type of experience I was looking for, who had achieved the kind of success I can only dream of. So you can imagine my delight when I came across The Self Publishing Revolution. I have read many of the articles since and came across a particularly interesting one written by Selena: Erotica Sustainability.
The article is full of great guidance and advice and makes some very thoughtful points about contributing to the industry overall and having a responsibility in helping all erotic self publishers succeed over the long term. It made me think specifically about how I will approach my upcoming book release and I was truly grateful for the guidance.
Selena seems to be an author that keeps on giving! I will be sure to post a few reviews of my favorite books in the coming weeks.

Cross Rhythms – Book 1 of the African Heat Erotica Series
I got into an amazing zone when I wrote Cross Rhythms. I started it at 10 pm and couldn’t stop writing until 1 pm the next day. The story was so intense it truly felt like I was in labor (without all the pain) and once it started I couldn’t stop until my baby had come into the world. I had never before had such a wonderful writing experience. When I was finished I knew the name of the book and it took me about 20 minutes to find the cover photo I wanted. It seemed so natural, so right. Obviously this is not some great literary achievement, we are still talking about a dirty book, but it sure felt good.
I suppose the story was forming in my mind for a few weeks before, as it was inspired by a guy I met in a night club here in Edinburgh. He had a fantastic energy about him and when I saw him dancing I just had to stop and tell him how beautiful he looked. I have always admired great dancers and this boy could certainly move. What struck me most though is that he wasn’t at all concerned about the scene, drinking, girls, dancing he just seemed connected to the music, his personal space and movement. It was a wonderful thing to witness. I also wrote a poem about it and I think that was the beginning of this journey.
Just goes to show inspiration can strike at any moment! My goal is to be present and available to the moments!

Don’t Tell Your Mom by Kelsey Charisma

I love Kelsey Charisma, short little reads that are smoking hot. Most of her stuff I would classify as Taboo Erotica, sleeping with your step dad type stuff. It’s fantasy erotic porn at it’s best. This story is a favorite.

Blade’s Desire is my favorite book by Leah Brooke. I have read pretty much everything from this author and this is one I come back to time and time again. Blade is a loving, cruel, sexy, kinky, funny and kind Dom, one that you absolutely would love to spend some time with. A must read for anyone who loves a little BDSM Erotica. The other books in this series are also very good.
Carnal Harvest by Robin L. Rotham

Another fantastic book by Robin. I loved the characters the story was gripping and the sex was hot. What more could you want.
